Taylor Swift, who celebrated her 19th birthday on Saturday, has now surpassed the 5 MILLION mark for total sales of her two studio albums, Fearless, and her self-titled debut, both released on Big Machine Records. Taylor is country music’s best-selling artist of 2008.

Taylor Swift capped off a big week at last night’s American Music Awards, where she walked away with the award for Favorite Female Artist – Country. Just prior to winning her award, Taylor wowed the crowd with her poignant debut television performance of “White Horse,” her new single from her just-released sophomore CD, Fearless. “White Horse” goes to country radio today.

Singer/songwriter Taylor Swift has solidified her position as one of the most important artists to emerge on the popular music scene this decade as her sophomore album, Fearless, debuted this morning in the #1 slot atop Billboard’s Top 200 Albums Chart, with sales of 592,304 copies in its first week in stores. This is the largest opening U.S. sales week in 2008 by a female artist in all genres of music, and the fourth biggest overall, behind Lil Wayne, AC/DC and Coldplay.

Taylor Swift’s highly-anticipated sophomore album, Fearless, arrived in stores yesterday, and the collection’s lead single, “Love Story,” this week is in the #1 position atop both the Billboard and USA Today/Country Aircheck country radio charts, reaching a weekly radio audience of more than 40 million listeners. Taylor will perform “Love Story” live tonight on the 42nd Annual CMA Awards, broadcast on ABC from 8-11 p.m. (ET/PT). She is nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year.

Taylor Swift was in the Times Square studios of Good Morning America this morning when her name was called as one of the CMA’s final nominees for Female Vocalist of the Year. Taylor was on GMA reading the nominees live with Rascal Flatts, who she is on tour with this year. The 42nd Annual Country Music Association Awards will be broadcast live on ABC at 8:00 p.m. EST/PST on Wednesday, November 12th, 2008.

Taylor, who has developed a large global following on-line, will play a 75- minute show to a capacity crowd -- early fan response had the show sold-out well in advance. NBC’s “Nashville Star” will kick start its first season on NBC with a performance by 2008 ACM Best New Female Vocalist Taylor Swift. Her performance on “Nashville Star” will be part of the show’s two-hour premiere episode that will also feature highlights from the nationwide casting calls and will unveil the Top 12. The premiere will be telecast on Monday, June 9, 2008 on NBC (9-11 pm ET).

Taylor Swift will be in Los Angeles this weekend to receive the Superstar of Tomorrow Award at the 10th Annual Young Hollywood Awards. Taylor is the first musician in the history of the Awards to receive this honor -- recent winners include Katherine Heigl, Shia LaBeouf, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, Emily Rossum and Brandon Routh. The awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, April 27th at Hollywood’s Avalon Theatre, and Taylor’s award will be presented by Gary Dourdan, who portrays Warrick Brown on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, one of Taylor’s favorite shows.
